ABOUT
At its foundation, Smith Group is guided by Christian values and a commitment to service, integrity, personal responsibility, and treating others with respect. Those principles shape how we train, how we conduct business, and how we serve every student and organization that places its trust in us.
Smith Group is not about one person. It is about the people the Lord has placed in our path over the past 25 years and bringing that collective knowledge, experience, and expertise under one umbrella.
Founded by firearms instructor and tactical training professional Billy Smith, Smith Group, LLC was built on more than two decades of experience in federal, state, local, military, and multi-agency training environments. That experience provides the foundation for professional firearms and tactical training designed for military personnel, Other Government Agencies (OGAs), Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), and prepared citizens.
We believe effective training goes beyond technical proficiency. It requires preparation, discipline, accountability, sound decision-making, and the ability to apply learned skills under real-world conditions. Our training is designed with those principles in mind, emphasizing practical application and purposeful instruction rather than simply meeting a training requirement.
Smith Group is committed to providing professional, mission-focused instruction that strengthens individual capability and organizational readiness while maintaining an uncompromising emphasis on safety, responsibility, and service.
BEYOND THE DOGMA
Our philosophy is if a technique has proven to be the most effective, practical, and relevant, that is the technique we will use and teach-regardless of where it originated or how it’s “always been done”.
We are not committed to a particular branch, unit, doctrine, or methodology. We are committed to what works.
CONTINUAL EVOLUTION
Tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) that were considered best practice 10 or 20 years ago may be improved as equipment changes, threats develop, operational experience grows, and better methods are proven.
We are continually evaluating, testing, refining, and adapting what we teach.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
